PIXTON

Today I will tell you about an app called Pixton. Pixton is an app which allows you to create classes as a teacher and view your students Pixton stories. It allows students to create their own avatars and join classes. After joining classes, students are allowed to make their own comic.

To understand this app better, I signed up as both teacher and student. Also my sisters helped by joining my classes as students. When you sign up, you have to create your avatar first. So, I created my avatars. While doing it, app gives you many choices for every feature. For example, it gives you many different skin colour options.

After my avatar was done, I created two classes. One class allowed students to join by using their piston users while the other class allowed them to join by using the link.

 

After students join a class, they are allowed to make their stories and we decided to make stories about daily routines. As you know for 5th grade one of the goals is to be able to talk about daily life. So we created our stories for our daily routines. While creating your story, Pixton gives you so many options to choose for each step. For example, it gives you multiple background choices as well as your gestures. After finishing the story, I submitted it.

As a teacher you can see the student names and their Pixton. Under each students name you will see their pixton made in your class.


You, as a teacher, will be able to like their stories or give feedbacks and students will see those feedbacks on the right column of their pixton stories.

This app not only makes student use language but also allows them to use their creativity. Also it is really entertaining, like video games. It would help escpecially younger students to pay more attention to their classes and homework. By letting them use language for every situation, it becomes more of an authentic tool for students and help the learning process.
